The Opportunity

Exciting news - Mixmax hit $10 million in annual revenue and we’re profitable! We just raised more money and are looking to invest more to accelerate growth.

We’re looking to hire an experienced analytics engineer to maintain, improve and continue to add to Mixmax’s data infrastructure and data culture. You’ll be a key communicator, working cross functionally in our entirely remote organization. You’ll have the opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders, technologies, and data sources.

As an Analytics Engineer you’ll be a key member of a team specifically focused on ensuring the company runs on accurate and repeatable data to make informed decisions across the entire organization. This means you should feel comfortable talking to both our stakeholders and fellow engineers to understand their data and needs, and be able to present an accurate, repeatable, and actionable analysis, in addition to working to democratize data for your colleagues.

You would be part of an engineering team that values continuous and collective learning, culture over process, data driven development and always asking tons of questions. We actively blog about our work, contribute to open source, sponsor Open Collectives, and host/present at meet-ups - and we encourage you to do the same and under your own name.

Within Three Months, You'll

  • Collaborate with partner teams to understand their business contexts and analytical challenges, and to transform and sprinkle data-driven fairy dust on their products.
  • Ensure all stakeholders’ analytics needs are met by scoping projects, gathering requirements and prioritizing overall company needs.
  • Support all analytics-related functions including weekly/monthly reporting, building dashboards and analytics tools in Looker and ad-hoc analytics tasks.
  • Communicate strategies and processes around data modeling and architecture to multi-functional groups.
  • Design, build, and support data-centric services including but not limited to event streaming, ETL pipelines and distributed data storage utilizing Airflow, Snowflake and DBT.

Within Six Months, You'll

  • Work on high impact projects that optimize data availability and quality, and provide reliable access to data across the company.
  • Enable the ability to evaluate success of marketing campaigns in Looker.
  • Work with fellow engineers to build out other parts of the data infrastructure, effectively communicating your needs and understanding theirs.
  • Extract actionable insights through analyzing large, complex, multi-dimensional customer behavior datasets.
  • Translate complex concepts into implications for the business via superb communication skills, both verbal and written.

Within one year, You'll

  • Become a Looker expert by exploring best practices and implementing those in Mixmax’s data warehouse.
  • Partner with the product team to evaluate error and feature usage to identify gaps, trends and make recommendations on product improvements.
  • Identify additional data sources to have an impact on Mixmax company goals.

Preferred Skills and Background

  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
  • Lots of curiosity and zero fear of making questions!
  • Previous experience with Looker (or other BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Mode or Metabase)
  • Exceptional coding and design skills, particularly in SQL and LookML.
  • Previous experience of working with large data volumes, including processing, transforming and transporting large-scale datasets for analytics and business purposes.
  • Revenue data experience.

It’s Also Awesome (But 100% Not a Requirement!) For You To Have

  • Previous experience in data warehousing and ETL pipelines.
  • Previous experience with Python or JavaScript
  • Previous experience with Snowflake, Airflow (or other orchestration software), Redash and Docker.
  • Previous experience with Google Analytics
  • Previous experience with Amplitude
  • Previous experience with Salesforce
