Billing Analyst (REMOTE)

Exciting news! We just hit $10 million in annual revenue, and are looking for a Billing Analyst to help drive our next phase of growth. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s excited about joining a fully remote, fast-growing, and globally distributed 45-person startup. 

As our Finance & Operations departments are still small, you’ll work independently, have complete ownership of your work, and an outsize impact. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with other departments to ensure all sales are accurately billed, setting clients up for billing, issuing invoices, and coming up with ways to improve our processes and implementing them. Note that we have both a Direct Sales and a Self-serve business, where the underlying processes are slightly different. This role is also unique in that you’ll own Accounts Payable and our vendor relationships from a finance perspective, and not just Accounts Receivable.

 

Billing Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing all billing procedures and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Preparing, issuing, and sending invoices (in Stripe).
  • Reviewing invoices and sales sheets to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Reconciling invoices with balance sheet reports and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Communicating with clients and other departments, resolving issues, and providing clarifications.
  • Ensuring clients' billing accounts are set up correctly and according to their requirements.
  • Following up on past due invoices 
  • Maintaining updated records of accounts receivable and payable.
  • Verifying accuracy of accounts payable and pay our bills on time. 
  • Preparing reports and meeting billing deadlines.

 

Preferred skills and background:

  • Previous experience as a Billing Analyst or in a similar Finance role
  • Expertise in Stripe 
  • Proficiency with data entry is a must-haves, as are basic Excel skills. Experience with other account and billing software programs, as well as Salesforce, are nice-to-haves. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, and comfortable talking with customers directly.
  • Past success in a remote position, preferably working with team members in North America
  • Ideally, candidates can work regular business hours in any Americas time zone, i.e., UTCGMT-3 to GMTUTC-8. Candidates in EMEA time zones should expect to move their workday back a bit. 
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and pitching in with other projects as needed
